Your Wedding Day
YOUR SCHEDULED TIMES FOR USE OF CHURCHBecause of other weddings and other scheduled liturgies in the church, each wedding is given the use of the church for three hours. On Saturdays, the 11:00 o'clock wedding has the use of the church from 9:30 a.m. till 12:30 p.m. The 2:00 o'clock wedding has the use of the church from 12:30 p.m. till 3:30 p.m. For Friday evening 6:00 p.m. weddings you will have use of the church from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Please be considerate of others who wish to use the church.
BRIDE'S DRESSING ROOMA dressing room for the bridal party is available for use. It is downstairs adjacent to the women's restroom. The men in the wedding party may use the nursery (2nd floor of the Parish Center) or the restrooms. We ask that you remove all personal belongings from the rooms before your wedding begins so the rooms will be available for the next wedding party, and for security purposes.
PARISH WEDDING ASSISTANTS A wedding assistant from St. Michael’s Parish is assigned to assist you and your bridal party at your rehearsal and the day of your wedding. This wedding assistant will be available to open the church, help set up for your wedding, set the lights for pictures, turn on the sound system, and answer any questions you may have. These assistants are parishioners who offer their time so that your wedding ceremony may run smoothly.
FOOD Some Wedding parties bring food to snack on while they are preparing for the Mass or ceremony. Please remember that, if you will be celebrating a Mass, that those receiving Communion MUST REFRAIN from eating and drinking (except water) for one hour before Communion. If you are not having a Mass this one hour fast does not apply, however, in both cases food should not be served in our Atrium area (Gathering Space). Food should be limited to the Bride's Room in Corcoran Hall or the Groom's Room in the Nursery. ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES Bringing alcoholic beverages into the church for a pre-nuptial celebration is completely inconsistent with the sacred character of the celebration. Even champagne in the bride's room, as traditional as it may be for some families, is not permitted. There is to be no consumption of any type of alcoholic beverage on church premises before or after the wedding ceremony.
SMOKING St. Michael's Church, buildings, and grounds are smoke-free areas. Smoking is prohibited inside and outside all buildings.
CLEAN-UP Please ask someone to be responsible for removing bows and flowers, the aisle runner, programs, etc., from the church immediately after your wedding. Also, clean up the bride's room and remove all debris so it is ready for the next wedding.
RECEPTION LINEAt the conclusion of your wedding Mass or Ceremony you may greet your guests outside the church, weather permitting or in the Atrium. A reception line may not be formed in the Church itself. Liturgically it is not respectful to visit in the Sanctuary.
